Why Work With a Physical Therapist Who Also Teaches Pilates?

Physical therapy and Pilates are powerful tools that complement each other beautifully. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and certified Pilates instructor, I blend clinical knowledge with mindful, progressive movement to support your whole-body health.

This combined approach is especially valuable if you’re navigating:

  • Prenatal care

  • Postpartum recovery (even years later)

  • Hypermobility or joint instability

  • Chronic pain or recurrent injuries

  • Movement fear or lack of confidence

  • Returning to movement after a break

Every session is personalized for your unique needs—whether you require hands-on clinical care, focused movement coaching, or a thoughtful blend of both.

Cleveland Services

  • Comprehensive Movement Evaluation:
Designed to assess your movement, strength, flexibility, posture, and any areas of pain or dysfunction. Together, we’ll review your medical history and your goals to understand your unique needs.

The evaluation helps us determine whether physical therapy, therapeutic Pilates, or a combination of both is the best path for you. This personalized approach ensures you get the right care at the right time.

You’ll leave with a clear plan and next steps tailored just for you.

  • A hybrid session - combining skilled physical therapy with Pilates-based movement.

Ideal for active recovery, injury management, or when clinical expertise is needed alongside movement progression.

    Includes:

    • Hands-on manual therapy

    • Movement pattern retraining

    • Core and breath integration

    • Clinical Pilates progressions

  • Movement sessions informed by physical therapy principles.

These one-on-one sessions focus on building strength, stability, and control in a way that supports your unique body. They are ideal for clients who are pregnant, recovering postpartum, managing joint hypermobility or wanting to prevent injury with intelligent, customized movement.

Unlike a typical group class, Therapeutic Pilates is highly personalized — with the clinical eye of a Doctor of Physical Therapy guiding each session. We focus on quality of movement, breath, core control, and long-term body awareness.

Many women notice their bodies feel different after pregnancy and childbirth—sometimes months, years, or even decades later. You may feel ready to return to movement, but unsure how to do so in a way that truly supports your body.

This semi-private Pilates series is designed to provide individualized guidance in a small, supportive setting so you can rebuild a strong foundation with confidence.

With only three participants, each session allows for hands-on attention and movement education tailored to your needs. We focus on helping you understand how your body moves, what it needs, and how to support it well.

Sessions emphasize:

  • Breath and core connection

  • Pelvic and trunk stability

  • Controlled, intentional movement

Using primarily mat-based Pilates with occasional small equipment, this series helps you feel more connected, supported, and confident in your body—without pressure to push or perform.

Investment:

$300 for the full 4-week series

Includes hands-on guidance, individualized adjustments, and a supportive studio environment.

Bonus Individual Support:

Upon registration, you will receive a $35 credit toward one private Pilates or physical therapy session, usable before the series begins or within 30 days after completion.

Carly has been in the health and wellness industry for over 18 years. She lived solely in the Pacific Northwest for over 8 years. During that time she honed her skills as an intuitive healthcare practitioner. She has always had a holistic approach to wellness, thinking outside the box, challenging treatment norms and looking beyond the location of pain to figure out the source. Only by finding the source can clients truly heal. She has flourished in an environment with like-minded professionals who don’t dismiss differences in how clients’ bodies present, but approach them head on.

Having been both a patient and provider in the healthcare system, Carly has seen the pitfalls, patients falling between the cracks from not being ‘textbook’, being dismissed for multi-system issues, not being listened to, not approaching patients with a whole body approach, and the list goes on.

Since being in the PNW, her skills have grown through experience, but also investing in her skillset. In addition to being a doctor of physical therapy and an exercise physiologist, she is also a certified breath coach, a certified STOTT Pilates instructor, Rehab trained in STOTT Pilates, a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a Pelvis Pro Expert.

Carly has seen personally and professionally the benefit of whole body wellness and has brought it to her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Combining all her knowledge and skillset, she is here to offer her clients a blend of all her experiences. She’s excited to announce CRC PILATES.

Pilates has been instrumental in her own healthcare journey. The combination of pilates and physical therapy was the key towards her recovery 4 years ago, after some major health challenges.

Through pilates, clients will learn to:

  • properly use their core

  • restore and gain mobility, flexibility & strength

  • reduce and resolve pain

  • allow themselves to live a more fulfilling life

Carly wants you to be able to do all the things you want to do with increased ease and enjoyment because you’re worth it! :)

FAQs

‘I have never done Pilates, isn’t it too hard for me’?

Pilates is for EVERY body. That’s the beauty of private, 1-to-1 sessions, it’s all about YOU and your individualized needs. It’s a customized pilates session - meeting your body where it is at that very moment.

Personalized sessions leads to the results you’re looking for!

Do you offer classes?

Equipment-based Pilates is not offered in a class format for the reasons mentioned above. The fundamentals of pilates classes will be available in the near future. She offers a great opportunity for private group online classes, with a 4 person minimum requirement for you and friends / family members. Contact Carly for details, carly@crcpt.com.

What should I expect in the 1st appointment?

It is important for the 1st session to discuss your physical history and assess how you move in order to tailor a program that meets your individual needs, therefore time can be maximized in follow up appointments to work on achieving your goals.

The ultimate goal is to create an individualized program to meet your personal needs, addressing improved body awareness, strength, and flexibility.

You will begin learning the 5 basic principles of pilates.

  • Breathing

  • Pelvic placement

  • Rib cage placement

  • Scapular movement / stabilization

  • Head / cervical placement

Do you offer physical therapy services?

Yes! I am an out-of-network provider so I encouraged you to contact your insurance company to determine your out-of-network coverage. Carly can create a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
